True Colors is New York Times bestselling author Kristin Hannah's most provocative, compelling, and heart-wrenching story yet. With the luminous writing and unforgettable characters that are her trademarks, she tells the story of three sisters whose once-solid world is broken apart by jealousy, betrayal, and the kind of passion that rarely comes along.

The Grey sisters have always been close. After their mother's death, the girls banded together, becoming best friends. Their stern, disapproving father cares less about his children than about his reputation. To Henry Grey, appearances are everything, and years later, he still demands that his daughters reflect his standing in the community.

Winona, the oldest, needs her father's approval most of all. An overweight bookworm who never felt at home on the sprawling horse ranch that has been in her family for three generations, she knows that she doesn't have the qualities her father values. But as the best lawyer in town, she's determined to someday find a way to prove her worth to him.

Aurora, the middle sister, is the family peacemaker. She brokers every dispute and tries to keep them all happy, even as she hides her own secret pain.

Vivi Ann is the undisputed star of the family. A stunningly beautiful dreamer with a heart as big as the ocean in front of her house, she is adored by all who know her. Everything comes easily for Vivi Ann, until a stranger comes to town. . . .

In a matter of moments, everything will change. The Grey sisters will be pitted against one another in ways that none could have imagined. Loyalties will be tested and secrets revealed, and a terrible, shocking crime will shatter both their family and their beloved town.

With breathtaking pace and penetrating emotional insight, True Colors is an unforgettable novel about sisters, rivalry, forgiveness, redemption---and ultimately, what it means to be a family.

This is a very well written book, but a real tear jerker. It’s a good family read although as in most families there is always a favorite. I can very well associate myself with Winona, oldest (although I wasn’t the oldest or a lawyer) but I was always trying to prove myself trying to get my Father & Mother’s approval which I never did so I know how that feels. Always trying & never measuring up. The sisters are all unique in their own way, but you know the favorite Vivi Ann is adored by ALL! There is rivalry in the family, a deep emotional connection with family and the community. You can’t read fast enough and you won’t want any interruptions! There is a crime that will tear the family apart & the town as well. You won’t believe who is blamed for the crime. For the first time in all these years, the sisters will be pitted against each other. Secrets will be revealed and you will find out where their loyalties are. This is a face pace moving novel of what it truly means to be a family.

I’m a hopeless romantic, so I was rooting for Vivi Anne and Dallas the entire book. I’m glad I read it till the end! What a great story!

This is a must read, won't be able to put down, will have you daydreaming about the characters type of book. It is her best along with Firefly Lane. Recommend it to everyone that loves a good book.
  • I loved the book, but it was extremely long

I loved this story as much as I love happy endings! The sisterly love was inspiring, all the relationships were inspiring. The imagery was great; I want to live at the ranch and the beach house! I love small towns, but everyone knowing my every movement would get old quick. LOL! Seriously, I loved the book, but it was extremely long. There was a lot of writing for a story that could have been much shorter. Other than that, it was great! A strong 3 Boundless stars; it was good, but could have been better....Beth

  • Frustrating!

    By Ctredbaby
This story starts out really good. The sketches of the characters have enough to keep you reading for awhile. Then it just gets exhausting! The choices all of these sisters make are totally frustrating and want to scream at the author for each character making random choices that weren't even put before them. You start to lose patience first with the characters and then with the author. Too jerky, disjointed and not cohesive enough for me. Read Winter Garden. It's her absolute best. This book was a huge disappointment.
